Favorite Headphones for Traveling

travel headphones

One of the crucial items that Joseph and I like to bring are travel headphones. For Joseph, it helps him keep the screaming kids at bay during a 15 hour flight to Asia or to watch in-flight movies without using the airline’s screeching cheap earbuds. I use it to catch up on some podcasts to make those flights go a little bit faster.

So what’s in our lineup?

Bose QuietComfort 35 Wireless Headphones

For the heavy-duty noise-cancelling bluetooth headphones, we both have the Bose QuietComfort 35. It’s bulky but oh-so comfortable on the ears. If you’re new to wearing them, they can cause a bit of a headache until you get used to them, but once you’re settled, they offer such a beautiful sound that doesn’t involve your noisy airplane neighbors. The battery lasts roughly 20 hours so you’re set for those long haul flights. It also includes attachable cords for when the headphones run out of battery, and to use for your seat’s in-flight entertainment system. Overall, it’s our top choice to have when traveling.

Bose QuietComfort 20 Acoustic Headphones

Another pair of favorite travel headphones in Joseph’s arsenal was the wired Bose QuietComfort 20 Acoustic, which sadly got misplaced an airport lounge. It’s also noise-cancelling but instead of being bulky, they’re earbuds that makes it so much more portable. If you’re traveling light, these are the headphones for you. The case comes with rechargeable lithium-ion battery, making it an easy to grab and go item for a quick weekend getaway.

Apple Airpods

These little wireless bluetooth earbuds have been in my purse since I got them in April, and I had the chance to take them to Cancun for our wedding. I was initially afraid of being in possession of something so small – losing it or dropping it – but as long as I made sure of putting them away in a place that I could remember, this wasn’t a problem. The battery life in these pairs are roughly 24 hours while the case can charge multiple times over, so there’s a high chance you won’t need to charge them during your trip at all. My favorite way of using the Airpods are before flights or layovers when I can just pop in one of the buds and keeping an ear free to listen to announcements. They’re also comfortable enough that I forget it’s on and they’re secure enough that I can shake my head fervently without it flying loose.

I’d read about these headphones awhile back when I was thinking of getting good ones for travel. These sound fantastic, especially for long flights. The noise cancelling is the selling point for me.

I was considering getting the iphone 7, but the headphone jack issue was putting me off, but honestly, if the airpods are good then it shouldnt be a problem.

Great tips! headphones are so important while traveling since I hate the ones on the plane. I’ve loved every single Boss headphone I’ve had so far! They’re the bomb! xx

I’m just like you guys because whenever I travel from LA (whether plane or train) I have to have my headphones! I don’t know how I feel about the air pods (thin I may lose them too quickly) but the Bose seem like a great option. Thanks for the tip on those!
