Yosemite : Day 4

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, CALIFORNIA On our fourth day in the park, we headed to Yosemite Valley, where most of the activities of the park are held. It took us an hour on the park’s shuttle to get to the Valley. We were planning on hiking up the Half Dome which is supposed to be a 7 hour hike one way, but we didn’t know you needed a permit. Makes sense. So we ended up taking a tram tour of the…

Yosemite : Day 3

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, CALIFORNIA Day three in Yosemite and we spent the day carousing the neighborhood. We started off the day exploring the historic grounds that included a carriage ride!   Afterwards, we went down to the quiet stream right by the cabin and just took in the cool water. And then we hung around the cabin, watching HGTV and feeding some bluejays. And when the night was young, we attended a Barn Dance that Yosemite was hosting, with live…

Yosemite : Day 2

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, CALIFORNIA On our second day, we went up to the area where Sequoia trees grew. They were so cool looking! We walked nearly an hour before heading back. Most of the time spent, however, was with a particular deer that was so laid-back about being near humans (see pic below). We were THIIS close to her and the deer did not flinch, and just kept eating away. Afterwards, we went BACK to the stream we found the…

Yosemite : Day 1

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, CALIFORNIA It seems like this year, I’m destined to conquer California. From trips to San Diego, San Francisco, Napa, Sacramento, and Joshua Tree, the latest area of discovery is Yosemite! A couple of weekends ago, my friend Anna invited me to take a five-day vacation to the National Forest as her family had a cabin up there, and I eagerly agreed! We arrived after a six hour drive! Her family’s cabin. I wish I took more pictures…

Sonoma and Napa : Day 3

SONOMA & NAPA VALLEY, CALIFORNIA On our third day in North California, we headed to a few places. First, we quickly visited the Redwood Forest park, home of the tallest trees in the world, only to be faced with a Memorial Day parade in the small town. Every street we turned had a sign that said ‘detour’. And with the GPS going on the fritz with all the ‘re-routing’ and the tiny streets, we were stressed just getting there! And…

San Francisco : Day 2

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA When we were wandering through Fisherman’s Wharf the first day, we came across a biking booth advertising a 3-4 hour bike tour that covers some of the landmarks along the shore. As people out of shape and haven’t ridden a bike in years, we thought it would be the best kind of tour for us! Haha. The next morning at 10am, we set off from Fisherman’s Wharf with about ten other people. We were definitely unprepared for…

San Francisco : Day 1

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA It’s been a really long time since I’ve visited San Francisco, to the point that I have no memory of it. Joseph, on the other hand, has never been there, even though he’s been all over the world. So we thought it’d be a great idea to drive up there for the weekend from LA, and that’s a six – eight hour drive, depending on traffic. There was a couple of our views during the car trip.…

Joshua Tree: The Land of the Lorax

JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK, CALIFORNIA As part of the MLK weekend vacation that Joseph had planned, we stayed a night at a Hampton Inn after visiting Lake Arrowhead on Saturday, and headed to Joshua Tree National Park on Sunday. I have never to a national park before, and my initial thought when hearing about ‘Joshua Tree National Park’ was that there was one singular tree – the Joshua Tree – that we take pictures with, and then leave. That was…

The Jeep and the Sedan

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA Last Sunday, Joseph and I decided to take a quick drive up the mountain for no apparent reason than to get out of the apartment. It was a chilly day, and even chillier the higher up we went. Because snow was expected to be seen eventually, and we had no snow tires or chains, the last stop on the ride was at Haramokngna National Forest. Or rather, their parking lot. Prior to the drive, we had not…

EL MATADOR STATE BEACH

MALIBU, CALIFORNIA There was only one other time when I traveled to the far reaches of Malibu, and that was for a wedding. I stopped by the Malibu pier to take a couple of snapshots and then headed back down the Pacific Coast Highway while listening to the radio station ‘Love Songs on the Coast’. Yesterday was second time I went – for an engagement session gig – and the beach’s official title is ‘El Matador State Beach’. About halfway…
