Museum of Ice Cream

One of the most talked about event happening in Los Angeles is the pop-up Museum of Ice Cream, originally made in New York. It’s been such a popular event that tickets sold out so fast that, although it was only to be opened from April until May, it has been extended until October and tickets still have sold out. We were lucky enough to have a friend with industry tickets, and attended one Friday night. We arrived in a warehouse area of…

Alfred’s Coffee on Melrose Place

I am not a coffee connoisseur but I can’t help but be drawn to coffee shops with their aromatic coffee scent floating about the room and the interior decor that makes staying for a couple of hours enjoyable. The great thing about living in LA is that there are ample amounts of coffee shops, particularly on the west side of the city, that you can visit. One, in particular, is Alfred’s Coffee and Kitchen located in Melrose Place. It’s been on my…

Los Angeles Arboretum

LA is known as a city with SO many freeways, so many concrete roads, so many cars on the road and not enough greenery. But there are certainly pockets of space where gardens bloom. I’ve discussed previously of Huntington Library and Botanical, one of my all-time favorite garden spots in Los Angeles to “get away” from the city. This time, I explore the Los Angeles Arboretum, a garden in Arcadia where peacocks just love to roam around freely. The Arboretum…

Beverly Hills Food and Wine Festival

BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of attending the Beverly Hills Food and Wine Festival and brought my mom along for the ride. The four day event was held from June 9th – 12th at the Olympic Collection ballrooms with a portion of the proceeds going towards Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation – a nonprofit organization that helped raise funds and awareness for kids with cancer. With over 60 amazing restaurant and wine vendors participating including Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Bottega…

DTLA Flower Market

There are a couple of Los Angeles florists that I follow on instagram, and I am always amazed at the flowers that they use in their work. Some of the flowers they use look so exotic, and nothing like the stuff I see in my local grocery store. But if you’re willing to make the trip to Downtown Los Angeles in the wee hours of the morning, you, too, can buy yourself those flowers. There has only been a few times…

Afters Ice Cream on Green St.

Tucked away in a quiet one-way street in Pasadena, within walking distance to Caltech and Pasadena City College, is this charming old gas station with adorable retro gas pumps. Just a few months ago, this gas station used to be the home of Motordogs – a classic hot dog stand, which I am sad to report I’ve always wanted to try but never did. And now, this place has transformed to house the handcrafted Afters ice cream. I saw their menu…

Confused by MoMA

DAY TWO, Pt. 2: Remember the first part of our day, when we visited The Metropolitan Museum of Art and I absolutely loved it? Well, we went to the Museum of Modern Art a little afterwards, and my experience is laughably the complete opposite. I love art that tells a story. I love seeing characters, seeing landscape, seeing the details and intricacies of the art pieces, and just the sheer amount of effort that the artist has put into their…

LV Series 2 Exhibit

When it comes to exploring new places, I’m all for it. When it comes to discovering my own city (currently, it’s Los Angeles), I suck at it. I’m trying to get better, really, and I’m hoping to do a lot more blog posts with all the wonderful things the city of Angels has to offer. Recently, Louis Vuitton was holding an exhibit to the public called LV Series 2 in which the company addressed it as “A presentation of the timeless inspirations behind…

Brief Walk through Hermosa Beach Pier

HERMOSA BEACH, CALIFORNIA When it comes to Los Angeles, I really don’t wander out to the west very much because it’s just so much work to do so. Traffic is normally heavy at the beach cities, it’s a long drive, and parking is not the easiest. But when I am asked to photograph a family portrait session out in that area, of course I make the journey over and I try to kill two birds with one stone by sticking around…

Bad Day Gone Good, Pt. II – Griffith Observatory

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA As soon as I picked up my friend on the curb, I just wanted to get out of Downtown L.A. as the parking ticket left a bad taste in my mouth. So we headed out to Griffith Observatory and ate our pizza on its front lawn. Overlooking the Hollywood sign and the rest of Los Angeles, we dined and let our earlier frustration flutter away into the wind. Can you see the Hollywood Sign over my shoulder?…
